Real Madrid and Liverpool have been involved in various transfer run-ins over the past few years — and the Spanish giants have come out on top every single time.

From Aurelien Tchouameni to Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe to Endrick, and now possibly Ibrahima Konate, Real Madrid have consistently beaten Liverpool to the signatures of top talents.

In the case of young Tchouameni, the player himself admitted: “The first one who came for me was Liverpool. Then Madrid came and everything changed.”

In 2020, Rodrygo was also on the verge of becoming Liverpool’s next big signing. As revealed by his agent, Klopp himself had flown to Brazil to convince the then-16-year-old.

But Santos rejected Liverpool’s €3 million bid and Madrid stepped in, signing him for €40 million.

Liverpool’s revenge plan on Real Madrid

In the wake of these events, Diario AS suggests that Liverpool are determined to exact revenge on Real Madrid this summer.

The Reds plan to get back at Real Madrid by signing Rodrygo, this time with a more concrete and urgent intent.

The Brazilian’s role at Madrid has become uncertain following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick, along with the continued form of Vinicius Jr. and Bellingham.

His reduced minutes at the Club World Cup and stiff competition in attack have triggered fresh doubts about his long-term future.

Rodrygo has multiple offers on the table, with Saudi clubs pushing strongly. But the 23-year-old prefers to remain in Europe and Liverpool see this as a golden opportunity to finally land a player they missed out on years ago.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Rodrygo could have a domino effect in the market too, with Bayern Munich determined to sign Reds winger Luis Diaz this summer.
