Just in: Barcelona ready to sacrifice star forward in order to make space in wage bill

Barcelona’s summer transfer plans are in flux as the club grapples with Financial Fair Play limitations. While Xavi Hernandez has an ambitious wishlist featuring established names like Kimmich and Bernardo Silva, Barcelona’s financial reality may force a different approach.

The crux of the issue lies with Barcelona’s overstretched salary mass, which exceeds the permissible limit, meaning the club will face several problems in not only signing new players but also registering existing stars.

Keeping that in mind, Barcelona may have to make a few tough decisions in the coming summer, including the exit of some of the existing stars.

Barcelona ready to offload Vitor Roque

In a major development, the Barcelona board has decided that one of these players will have to be Vitor Roque.

This is according to Cadena SER, which suggests that Barça have decided to make Roque available in the transfer market in the coming summer.

Formerly of Athletico Paranaense, Roque joined Barça in January with the promise of becoming the answer to the club’s attacking woes.

But just six months into his spell at Camp Nou, the forward’s journey has turned sour.

Barcelona to loan Roque out?

The report suggests Barcelona are ready to loan out Vitor Roque, who was previously slated for registration.

This decision prioritizes short-term FFP compliance over the player’s development, with the club hoping for a loan rather than a permanent transfer. While Roque’s camp reportedly desires a transfer, Barcelona views a loan as a way to retain his potential for the future.

The Brazilian, for his part, may have no shortage of suitors, though. Manchester United have emerged as one of the potential suitors for Roque, with Barcelona even open to a swap deal involving him and Mason Greenwood this summer.
