Just 36 hours left on the clock – Is this how the Newcastle United transfer window end?

The clock is now rapidly ticking down on this Newcastle United transfer window.
I am knocking this piece out at 11am on Thursday morning, 36 hours until the deadline.
The Premier League/Newcastle United transfer window set to slam shut at 11pm on Friday 30 August.
Will it be like last night’s Forest cup match?
A flurry of promise and success early on, before a tough watch for some time, only for an explosive dramatic brilliant finish?
Or will it ultimately feel like something that started with so many promise but faded away, with United unable to get more players over that line?
Newcastle United of course had that flurry of ins and outs early in the window.
As well as those who saw their unrenewed contracts run out at the end of June, both Minteh and Anderson exited by that 30 June 2024 PSR deadline to avoid getting into trouble with the Premier League lawmakers.
Whilst we also saw the Lloyd Kelly and Lewis Hall deals confirmed, as well as the couple of keepers.
Since then, only 19 year old Miodrag Pivas going into the Under 21 set-up initially, plus the signing of raw young striker Will Osula earlier this month.
For what it is worth, here is my take on how this Newcastle United transfer window will look come 11pm tomorrow night…
One thing I am sure will happen, will be a flurry of outgoing loan deals. It is astonishing that we have reached 29 August 2024 without a single one, though as I am typing this, I have just seen The Mag report that NUFC keeper Max Thompson has gone on loan to Chesterfield. The first of a canny few I reckon!
As well as a few/handful of other young promising players doing the same, you can only imagine that one way or another Newcastle United will manage to get both Ryan Fraser and Isaac Hayden out to other clubs. Sadly, this will almost for sure see United having to pay a large part of their wages, but it has to be done.
As for the more interesting stuff…
Putting my cards on the table, I think Marc Guehi will happen.
To me, all three parties (player and both clubs) all want the deal to happen, no matter how awkward Crystal Palace have been and how long they have stretched it out, to deflect attention away from all the issues at their club (selling star players Olise and Andersen, spending very little on new signings, their main shareholder dumping them for Everton and so on). Now with Maxence Lacroix and Eddie Nketiah set to come into Selhurst Park for a bit of positive news for their fans, Palace will finally allow Marc Guehi to escape, the defender having repeatedly refused to extend his contract.
Wednesday brought claims of Fulham interest in Miguel Almiron, whilst also claims that Kieran Trippier could still leave this window.
I would be very surprised if Trippier leaves, last night he once again showed his worth to the team/squad and unless a club offered more than the £12.8m that Bayern Munich bid in January, I can’t see it. The England defender turns 33 next month but is still a quality player and leader, his value to NUFC greater than any transfer fee we might receive. Talk of a loan deal to Everton (or anywhere) surely laughable, how would that be a worthwhile deal for Newcastle United?
As for Almiron, I think possible he could leave. However, I only see that being the case if a signing was made for that right side.
Eddie Howe appeared to make clear this week that it wouldn’t be possible for a central defender AND a right winger to be signed now. However, ultimate Poker player Eddie Howe never gives anything away, unless he chooses to, especially where potential signings are concerned (Harvey Barnes the supreme example last summer).
I think still a chance that a right sided attacking player could be signed AND Marc Guehi. Reality is that neither fans nor journalists have a clue these days what is happening behind the scenes at Newcastle United, I just wonder if we could see Almiron sold and a new right winger signed, possibly on a loan now and pay next summer deal, as we saw with Lewis Hall?
