Jürgen Klopp will make an unusual return to Borussia Dortmund next month as Liverpool’s Champions League group stage match with FC Midtjylland has been moved to the Signal Iduna Park.

The clash, scheduled for December 9, cannot be played at the Danish Superliga club’s home ground due to COVID-19 restrictions currently in place in Denmark.

“The game is to be played without fans.”

Any travellers from Britain to Denmark would be required to quarantine 14 days meaning the tie cannot take place at Midtjylland’s MCH Arena.

Discussions have been taking place to find another venue for the game which will lead to Liverpool head coach Klopp being returning to the stadium where he coached at between 2008 and 2015.
