They were also without a manager after Brendan Rodgers had been sacked four days prior.

Liverpool needed to get their next appointment right if they were to return to their former glory.

Klopp was a free agent after departing Borussia Dortmund a few months prior and was excited to get back into management with the English club.

The appointment turned out to be a masterstroke for Liverpool.

Liverpool have gone from strength to strength under Klopp and are now one of the best clubs in the world once again.

He managed to lead the Reds to their sixth Champions League title and then ended their long wait for a league title.

He has firmly cemented himself as a Liverpool legend.
