Jurgen Klopp not getting carried away with title chants
Anfield Watch
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is not getting carried away with the Premier League title chants that the Liverpool fans are singing.
Liverpool defeated West Ham United 2-0 in the Premier League last night at the Olympic Stadium thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The victory ensured the Reds a 19-point lead at the top of the table, which means the club only need eight more victories to ensure a maiden Premier League title.
It does appear likely that the Reds will claim the title, which means the Liverpool supporters are starting to chant about it, but Klopp is not getting carried away.
“They can sing whatever they want. Singing it doesn’t mean you are it,” said Klopp in his post-match press conference.
“We don’t feel like it is already done. I promise.
“I’m only happy about the three points. We could have done a lot of things better. We could have passed better and defended better.
“These boys have played outstanding football throughout the season. Tonight was a normal performance.”
This is a superb attitude that Klopp possesses. He can’t get carried away, as football is a strange game. Anything can happen.
However, he will know deep down that his team are almost there. It would take a miracle for second-placed Manchester City to chase down the Reds.
Liverpool’s next Premier League clash is against Southampton at Anfield this Saturday.
