Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that the Reds sent a message that they can cope without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane during their win against Brentford.

Liverpool took a bit of stick last Thursday for their rather toothless display against Arsenal in the EFL Cup - especially given the Reds were at home and against a team that was reduced to ten men for much of the game.

However, things were better in front of goal on Sunday with Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Takumi Minamino all getting themselves on the scoresheet.

That in mind, Klopp felt the display showed that we can get by without two of our star forwards - at least in the near term:

It was a performance that will inspire confidence amongst the squad that performances and wins can be got even without Salah and Mane.

Of course, those two are hugely important for the Reds and must be kept around for several years yet, but at least some of the other players stepped up on Sunday.

Up next, then, a trip to Arsenal where we are going to need goals.
