Jurgen Klopp has offered his thoughts over whether he feels finishing inside the top four this season would be one of his better achievements as a manager given the way this campaign has gone.

Of course, had you said to Reds fans at the start of this campaign that they were going to be scrapping it out for fourth place at best with no trophies to aim for by this stage, many would have wondered exactly what was going to go wrong in the coming months and, of course, we’ve seen exactly the sort of issues that can happen.

However, the Reds have their fate in their hands once more after a top win over Manchester United and now time will have to tell as to whether a Champions League spot can be secured.

Klopp was asked where the top four finish, if achieved, would rank in his list of work, then, but was rather coy on the topic.

“I would like to wait until then [the end of the season] if it happens, [I’m] not thinking too far ahead. I really think that would be disrespectful to West Brom, Burnley and Crystal Palace and that’s actually not what we are.

“We are the opposite. We respect a lot for what they are doing, so, we will see how it feels – if it feels.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

It perhaps makes sense that Klopp is taking this stance, especially when you look at the results we’ve had so far against two of the three remaining teams this season.

Liverpool drew at home to West Brom and lost at home to Burnley, trips to the Hawthorns and Turf Moor need to be dealt with before an Anfield crowd can hopefully cheer the Reds home against Crystal Palace.
