As reported by, former Lyon sporting director Juninho has not spoken with anyone at the club since his departure after an acrimonious exit earlier this season.
Juninho was irked having seen OL president Jean-Michel Aulas appoint Vincent Ponsot as director of football, undermining the former Lyon player’s authority in his eyes. Unsurprisingly, the pair struggled to work in sync and, at a meeting with Aulas present, Juninho even told Ponsot: “I don’t like you, and you don’t like me, but we have to work together.” After tense discussion, Aulas later emailed Juninho asking him to apologise to Ponsot, which he didn’t do.
Since his departure in January, which he first signalled via an interview with RMC having not told anyone at the club he was planning on leaving, no one at OL has spoken with the club legend, who was a key part of the team during the run of seven consecutive Ligue 1 titles at the start of the century. Aulas and Ponsot, say the sports daily, blame Juninho for the club missing out on first choice managerial target Christophe Galiter last summer.
