Former Roma goal-keeper Julio Sergio previewed the second half of the Giallorossi’s campaign in a recent interview with Centro Suono Sport.

The ex-shot-stopper encouraged fans to be patient with the team. “Roma have started a new cycle with Mourinho. They now have players who have played in great teams like Dybala. There are players with potential like Zaniolo.”

“I say Roma need time. We can’t demand everything right away just because you won the Conference League. Ferguson arrived at Manchester United and won nothing in his early years, as did Klopp at Liverpool. Roma must return to the Champions League and must do so with a certain regularity, but it takes time to do everything.”

“The ownership made huge investments in recent months, respecting the limitations imposed by FFP. Football is not mathematics, it is not enough to have the best players to win. We have to correct what there is to correct.”

“Individuals help you win games, then in the long run you need a proper gameplan. We know what Mourinho has done in his career, we just have to wait for it. Perhaps Roma don’t score insane number of goals, but they win the games they need to in order to get as high as possible, then it’s up to the players to solve issues on the pitch. There are a few players who’ve looked subdued this past season, we need to improve and after the World Cup things can get better for Roma.”
