Julian Nagelsmann expressed deep satisfaction with the nature of Bayern Munich’s win over Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday.
It took until the 71st minute for Leroy Sané to break the deadlock for the hosts at the Allianz Arena.
Despite the difficulty the Bavarians encountered, head coach Nagelsmann saw a lot that pleased him in the performance.
“In terms of structure, discipline and position, it was one of our best games today,” the 34-year-old told his post-match press conference.
“It’s against an opponent who defends very well and deeply, and when it’s 0-0 for a long time or you miss a chance or two, important.”
Nagelsmann also praised his side for sticking to the game plan and not getting desperate in their efforts to find the opener.
“Especially in our own possession. It was important that we maintain the discipline in filling positions in order to create some chances,” he said.
The victory was much-needed following last weekend’s shock defeat to Augsburg, and keeps Bayern one point ahead of Borussia Dortmund at the summit of the Bundesliga.
