The Jules Kounde to Chelsea transfer was effectively frozen in time, after coming close to completion last summer it was put on pause through the season, and then seemed to be binned entirely after the change in Chelsea’s ownership.
Now, with Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling signed, Chelsea’s attention has seemingly turned back to finishing off the Kounde deal.
Rumours have suddenly sparked up again in the last few days, and today we have heard from the well connected Marca that the transfer has taken “big steps” in the last few days.
That lines up with everything else we’ve heard, and their claims of a fee that exceeds €60m (presumably once bonuses are included) also seems to tally with the growing chorus of whispers in the last week.
Sevilla are back from their holidays, and they want this deal done as much as we do, so they can move on and find his replacement. We expect more “major steps” in the days to come.
