Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham was ecstatic, after his side eliminated holders Manchester City from the UEFA Champions League, and has admitted this victory was something he ‘could never dream of’. Madrid have progressed to the semi-finals of the competition where they will face Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Bellingham has been criticised in recent weeks for his inability to maintain his incredible goalscoring numbers from the beginning of the season. The Englishman responded to critics with a magnificent display against City.

The 20-year-old was involved in the first goal and he also played the full duration of the match. Bellingham also displayed great responsibility by putting himself forward to take a penalty in the shootout.

The attacking midfielder scored a crucial penalty by sending Ederson the wrong way. The England international was in high spirts after his side won 4-3 on penalties.

He said: “If you’re at Real Madrid, you have to accept to be criticized. If you’re here, it means you can handle it. You get to put Real Madrid’s badge on your chest everyday, you feel so grateful to be there.

“I could never dream of something like this. It was the first day my brother Jobe got to see me play for Madrid.I feel really proud about those kind of things.”
