Manchester United are reportedly on the right path towards securing the services of versatile Wolves attacker Matheus Cunha.
The Red Devils will be looking to revamp their attacking department next summer. And while signing a centre-forward is considered a major priority for the club, they would also like to pair him with an excellent Number 10.
At this stage, the identity of the striker remains shrouded in mystery, with a plethora of candidates being linked with a move to Old Trafford. On the contrary, Cunha has emerged as the undisputed top target for the supporting attacker’s role.
The Brazilian has been plying his trade at the Molineux since making the move from Atletico Madrid in January 2023. But this season, he has truly taken his game up a notch, beginning to fulfil his initial promise.
The 25-year-old has been absolutely crucial in Wolves’ escape from relegation, contributing with 16 Premier League and four assists.

Cunha’s brilliance this season hasn’t only attracted the interest of Man Utd, but other suitors are reportedly following him, including Arsenal.
Nevertheless, Ben Jacobs believes the Red Devils are ahead of the queue, as they have already opened a dialogue with the player who is willing to join Ruben Amorim’s squad, regardless of whether they qualify for the Champions League or not.
“Matheus Cunha open to MUFC following a meeting between player side and club, as reported last week,” posted the journalist on his X account.
“UCL next season not a dealbreaker for Cunha, who is keen to listen to long-term projects. However, it’s an easier deal financially for Manchester United to pull off if they win the #UEL.
However, Man Utd would still have to splash £62.5 million to activate the player’s release clause, as Wolves don’t intend to offer any discounts.
“Nothing has changed from Wolves’ perspective. They are expecting a Cunha exit and believe the £62.5m clause is market value. They are yet to receive a formal approach.”
With Cunha and Amad Diallo lining up behind the striker, the Red Devils would only need to find a top-notch bomber to complete what would be a vastly exciting attacking trident.
