Arsenal need to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window, and the Gunners have been linked with a move for Wolverhamton Wanderers attacker Matheus Cunha.

According to Alex Crook of talkSPORT, the Gunners may not pursue a move to sign the versatile Brazilian forward.

Cunha has been in tremendous form for Wolves this season, managing 13 goals and four assists in 26 Premier League games. He has been one of the brightest sparks for his side and is playing a pivotal role in helping them avoid relegation.

However, his hot-headed nature could cost him his dream move to Arsenal.

Crook shared that “sources have told” him that Mikel Arteta has reservations about signing Cunha because of his character.

Cunha has recently signed a new contract at Molineux, and he now has a release clause of £62.5 million. Arsenal are expected to make an attempt to sign him next summer, but that may not be the case if Arteta is not entirely convinced about signing the 25-year-old.

The Brazilian has played as a striker, as a number ten, and on both flanks, and he has excelled in whatever duty given to him. He has Premier League experience and would be a fantastic signing for the Gunners.

At the same time, Cunha’s disciplinary record has not been far from impressive this season. He was sent off during Wolves’ FA Cup defeat at Bournemouth last Saturday for lashing out at Milos Kerkez.

The attacker was also hit with a two-match ban earlier this season for clashing with a member of Ipswich’s backroom staff.

Arsenal may also feel the price tag for Cunha is too high, and at that price, that could buy more than one quality player who can do the job for them.
