Ipswich fans enjoyed their win over Chelsea over Monday night and they made the most of their opportunity to taunt Levi Colwill at one moment during the match.

It was a night to forget for Chelsea as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat and their second consecutive league defeat after losing to Fulham on Boxing Day.

Chelsea transfer target Liam Delap won and converted a penalty, whilst former Blue Omari Hutchinson doubled the lead in the second half.

How Colwill responded to taunts from Ipswich fans

Enzo Maresca made four changes to the side with Axel Disasi, Filip Jorgensen, Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix all coming in, but arguably none of them had the impact desired.

It was a particularly tough night for the Blues defensively, with Disasi really struggling at right back, with Delap also giving Colwill and Tosin Adarabioyo a very difficult evening.

Colwill, who had issued a rallying cry to the Chelsea squad in the aftermath of the defeat to Fulham wasn’t at his usual standards and got very angry at one moment during the second half.

With Colwill on the sidelines waiting to return to the pitch he was met with a chant of “he’s gonna cry in a minute” by the Ipswich fans but the 21-year-old was able to see the funny side.

Journalist Bobby Vincent took to X.com and said:

“Colwill furious with something (not sure what). Ipswich fans sing “he’s gonna cry in a minute” and that prompts a laugh from the defender.”

It’s good that Colwill was able to see the funny side, but Chelsea certainly didn’t have the last laugh at Portman Road and it’s now one win from their last three and just one goal scored in those games.

Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace has now taken on added importance and Maresca will be hoping Colwill and co defend much better at Selhurst Park.
