Football journalist Alan Nixon has taken to Twitter to claim that West Bromwich Albion are looking to sign a striker in the January transfer window.

The Baggies currently have the likes of Karlan Grant, Jordan Hugill, Callum Robinson and Kenneth Zohore who can all operate as a centre forward, which may mean that they could be set to offload one of these individuals if this suggestion proves to be true.

There has already been several names linked with Albion over the course of the last few weeks, which could suggest that Valerien Ismael really is keen to add an extra body to his team in the final third.

West Brom are already said to have transfer listed Robert Snodgrass recently, whilst Zohore is also seemingly surplus to requirements at the Hawthorns.

With the Baggies currently occupying forth place in the Sky Bet Championship standings, the club will no doubt be determined to get their squad in order ahead of a promotion push next year.

The Verdict

It will certainly be interesting to see what type of striker that the Baggies look to bring in as they would arguably need to be better than the players that they already have in that position.

There are bound to be plenty of loan options, whilst the free agent market is also attractive at this stage of the season.

Meanwhile Albion may also be keen to reinvest some of the funds that they may make in player sales if the likes of Snodgrass move on.

Adding an extra attacking option could be the difference between them getting an automatic or play-off spot in the long run as they look to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.
