James Pearce, now writing for the Athletic, explained during a Q&A that Liverpool will be more active in the transfer market next summer.
He said: “Liverpool always plan two to three transfer windows in advance. This summer was always going to be quiet – Klopp said as much back in April.
“There’s a feeling that the squad will need more work done next summer and that targets will be more readily available then.”
Liverpool fans have become obsessed with the thought of seeing the likes of Jadon Sancho and Kylian Mbappe arriving next summer as their craving for marquee signings was piqued last year by the arrival of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.
The funds are theoretically available after the Reds’ made a profit in the transfer market this summer and are yet to spend much of their incredible revenue generated during their Champions League triumph.
Whether or not there is a genuine interest in the likes of Mbappe remains to be seen but it would be exciting to see the Anfield outfit invest heavily in the club’s future by signing one or two of Europe’s best players.
