Celtic are battling to script a resurgence after a disappointing start and the late win on the road against Aberdeen must have uplifted the spirit ahead of locking horns with Motherwell this afternoon at Fir Park. The home side were in exquisite form so far this term, however, the galvanized Hoops proved to be too hot to handle as they registered a commanding 2-0 win to continue their uprise.

Below are the Celtic players rated in their win against Motherwell.

Joe Hart: 7

The experienced Englishman showed great control with the ball at his feet. Was not tested much otherwise as the hosts failed to threaten Celtic enough with swift counter-attacks.

Anthony Ralston: 7.5

Sharp from the right-hand side with overlapping runs, crosses and cut insides. Forced Liam Kelly to make a save as he could concentrate on his attacking game due to lack of activity at the other end.

Cameron Carter-Vickers: 8

Maintained his focus and composure in deep defence. Won the majority of duels, made no-nonsense clearances, also impressed with his recoveries, interceptions and passing game.

Carl Starfelt: 7.5

Much better from the Swedish centre-half as he was in the right place at the right time to clear dangers. Did well while playing it out from the back.

Boli Bolingoli: 7.5

Was spot on with his tackles and balanced his game between attack and defence. The outcast is making the opportunities count in the absence of injured Greg Taylor.

Callum McGregor: 8

Has been the driving force from the middle of the park as he made plenty of touches and recoveries to dominate the game centrally. His high work ethic, tireless runs and ball-carrying attribute dismantled Motherwell’s shape and strategy.

Tom Rogic: 8

Set it up perfectly for Jota who made no mistake to find the net early into the game. Had a couple of attempts blocked but his trademark dribbles tore apart the hosts’ set-up. Made way for Nir Bitton with the final quarter remaining.

David Turnbull: 8

His stellar strike doubled the lead minutes into the second half. Had a few more attempts denied by Kelly. An impressive display overall from the Scotsman against his boyhood outfit.

Liel Abada: 6.5

Made a few good runs from the right-hand flank. Tested Kelly once in the Well goal, however, looked a bit isolated late in the match and was replaced by Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Filipe Jota: 8.5

Continues his stellar form with an early goal. Also registered an assist for Turnbull’s stellar strike. Was a constant threat with his swift skills and footwork.

Kyogo Furuhashi: 7

Worked hard high up the pitch, combined well with fellow attackers and created an array of opportunities. But the Japanese sensation failed to find the net or grab an assist for a change. Made way for Michael Johnston late in the game.

Celtic Substitutes Vs Motherwell

Giorgos Giakoumakis: 6

Nothing significant from the Greek centre-forward as he is still settling down after recovering from injury woes.

Nir Bitton: 6.5

Was brought on to calm things down in midfield and protect the two-goal margin.

Mikey Johnston: NA

Played too little to warrant a rating.
