The potential prognosis for Joshua Kimmich’s knee could see him miss up to three months, in the worst case scenario.

During Bayern Munich’s 3-2 win away to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday evening, the midfielder was stretchered off after injuring himself with a late tackle on Erling Haaland.

Speaking after the game, coach Hansi Flick was reluctant to say too much about the extend of Kimmich’s injury.

However, a report in Bild on Sunday claims that while there is still no exact diagnosis for the Germany international, it is suspected he has injured the lateral ligament in his left knee.

It is not yet known if Kimmich has torn or sprained the ligament.

The report states that a tear would see him miss between two to three months of action, while a sprain would only sideline him for two weeks to a month.

In Kimmich’s absence, the German champions managed to edge out Lucien Favre’s men 3-2 at the Westfalenstadion to swiftly reclaim top spot in the Bundesliga.
