While Kimmich has demonstrated versatility by playing as a right-back and center-back, his performances as a defensive midfielder have been particularly more impactful. In the 2019–20 Bundesliga season, he averaged 100 touches per 90 minutes. The highest among all midfielders in the league. Additionally, he provided 10 assists, showcasing his playmaking abilities from a deeper position.
Kimmich’s vision, passing accuracy, and defensive acumen make him a pivotal player in Bayern’s midfield, orchestrating play and breaking up opposition attacks. His consistent performances have solidified his reputation as one of the most sought after defensive midfielders in modern soccer.
