Leeds United new boy Joshua Guilavogui has revealed the reaction of his family and friends when he told them a move to Elland Road was on the cards.
The midfielder was a free agent, but has now been snapped up by Leeds on a contract running until the end of the season.
With Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu suffering injuries, Daniel Farke jumped into the free agent market for a solution and found former Wolfsburg man Guilavogui.
A free agent since leaving Mainz at the end of last season, the 34-year-old is delighted to have joined Leeds and feels he has linked up with a huge club.
He revealed the reaction of his family and friends to the move and cannot wait to make an impact at Elland Road.
“When I spoke with my family, with my friends, when I said Leeds, they said ‘wow, Leeds United'”, he told LUTV.
“You know that even in France, Leeds are very famous.
“Olivier Dacourt played there, as well Marcelo Bielsa was there; a really good trainer, he trained one of the biggest clubs in France so we always as French, we always follow Leeds.
“To be part of this amazing club is really something that I am really thankful for.”
Guilavogui will be aiming to help Leeds win promotion to the Premier League this season and then earn a longer contract at the club.
