Sheffield Wednesday yet again got the job done down in League One yesterday afternoon, keeping up their very impressive form of late.

Indeed, a single goal from Marvin Johnson was enough to earn the Owls their fifth consecutive victory in the third tier with a 1-0 win over Fleetwood Town.

Simultaneously, the victory also extended the club’s unbeaten run in the league to an impressive 15 matches.

Perhaps even more sweet, promotion rivals Ipswich Town were defeated 2-1 away at Oxford United, allowing Wednesday to capitalise on their slip up.

The Owls remain second, but are now seven points clear of the third-placed Tractor Boys.

The gap to league leaders Plymouth Argyle remains just three points.

Clearly in jubilant mood after the victory, Sheffield Wednesday attacker Josh Windass took to social media to issue a short message to the club’s supporters following the match.

Windass started the match and played 86 minutes of action before being replaced by midfielder Tyreeq Bakinson as Darren Moore looked to shore things up late on, even getting the assist for the winning goal on the day.

On Instagram, Windass wrote the following seven-word message: “Another win another assist, let’s keep winning.”

The Verdict

It may not have been comfortable or pretty, but yet again Sheffield Wednesday got the job done yesterday afternoon.

Of late, Darren Moore has turned his side into somewhat of a winning machine.

Indeed, and with Wednesday’s consecutive wins coming as Ipswich Town have faltered slightly, the Owls now have a healthy gap between themselves and the Tractor Boys.

There’s still a very long way to go, but things are looking very good at Hillsborough right now.
