Imagine being 16-years old and hearing Real Madrid, footballing royalty, want to give you a five-year contract.

That is exactly what happened to former Chelsea prodigy Josh McEachran, now 25 and plying his trade in the Championship with Brentford.

Speaking to BBC Five Live Sport, the gifted midfielder revealed the Spanish giants contacted his agent about flying him and his family over to the Spanish capital with the offer of a long-term contract on the table shortly before his 17th birthday and admits his slight regret at not making the move.

Such was his love for Chelsea, he decided to commit his future to his boyhood club and penned a deal at Stamford Bridge.

However, like so many other Blues youngsters, McEachran struggled for game-time, making just 11 Premier League appearances before joining the Bees in 2o15.

A case of what could have been, perhaps.
