Real Madrid announced the signing of Joselu on Monday morning just hours after he won the Nations League with Spain.

The 33-year-old Spain international was the third top scorer in La Liga in 2022-23 with 16 goals. Only the top scorer Robert Lewandowski (23 goals) and Karim Benzema (19) had more in Spain’s top flight.

Excluding the five penalties he converted, the experienced striker has 11 goals, still among the top eight in the league. He has also shown his power in the air, with three headed goals. Madrid centre-back Eder Militao leads the way with five headed goals, the same as strikers Vedat Muriqi and Taty Castellanos.

The 52 goals he has scored in La Liga since returning from the Premier League four seasons ago make him the fifth-highest scorer in the league in this period, behind Benzema (90), Iago Aspas (58), Gerard Moreno (57) and Lionel Messi (55), according to AS. Only Benzema, Aspas and Joselu himself have scored at least ten goals in each of those four campaigns.
