After not being able to land Granit Xhaka in the summer transfer window, Jose Mourinho now reportedly wants to sign Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid.

Dani Ceballos spend two seasons at Arsenal but, apart from a few games after the return of football when the pandemic first started, he did little of note.

Ceballos has been determined to make it at Real Madrid, but, despite signing for the club in 2017 from Real Betis, the 25-year-old has made only 56 appearances for his parent club, 19 fewer than he made for Arsenal.

During those 77 games as a Gunner, Ceballos scored a grand total of two goals, with five assists.

Ceballos has yet to play a single minute this season after suffering torn ligaments at the Olympics in Japan when he was on the end of an horrific tackle during the opening game against Egypt.

Ceballos suffered a complete tear in his anterior talofibular and calcaneofibular ankle ligaments.

He is expected to return to fitness in the next few weeks but it’s unclear what sort of future he has in Spain.

Should Roma put in a decent proposal for him, Ceballos might just fancy some time in Italy.

That being said, expecting a decent offer from an Italian club is a big ask.
