José Mourinho could be adding another huge club to his CV this summer, according to reports in France.
Mourinho has been out of work since he was sacked by Manchester United in December, but the Portuguese tactician returned to the dugout on Saturday when he managed an Inter Milan legends team against their Tottenham counterparts in an exhibition match at the Lilywhites’ new stadium.
And according to French outlet Foot Mercato, Bayern Munich are considering offering the 56-year-old the chance to take over at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern have had a disappointing season so far and their 1-1 draw with Freiburg on Saturday leaves them two points adrift of leaders Borussia Dortmund in the race for the Bundesliga title.
That, coupled with their Champions League last-16 elimination at the hands of Liverpool, means current boss Niko Kovač is already under pressure despite the fact he only joined the club from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer.
Mourinho has already said he wants to return to management this summer and last week, L’Equipe claimed he could end up taking over at Lyon or Monaco.
But if Bayern were to come calling, the two-time Champions League winner would likely jump at the chance to join the club where his nemesis Pep Guardiola once reigned supreme.
“I want to return this summer, starting from June, for the beginning of the season,” Mourinho told reporters earlier this month.
“I know exactly what I don’t want, which is why I have already turned down three or four offers.
“I also know what I do want. I don’t mean the name of the club, but the type of work, the style of club.”
