Jose Mourinho has “brainwashed” Tottenham players according to Tim Sherwood

Speaking on talkSPORT, as relayed by the Daily Star, ex-manager Tim Sherwood has claimed that Jose Mourinho has “brainwashed” the Tottenham players into working harder and believing their title credentials.

Mourinho took over the reins at Tottenham in November last year, after the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino. When the Portuguese arrived at the club, we were 14th in the table and he took us to a top-six finish.

Building on that, Mourinho, after a very impressive summer transfer window, has turned Tottenham into contenders for the Premier League title. Indeed, Spurs are perched at the top of the league standings following the 2-0 win over Manchester City this past weekend.

And Sherwood has hailed the impact that the manager has had, praising the Portuguese for the mentality that he has instilled among the players since taking over. (h/t Daily Star)

“He’s found a way with the group of players he has. Jose has brainwashed his players to believe they have to work to achieve something – they need to win trophies, this group of players. When you play as solid as they do, he’s almost brainwashed them into believing.”

Sherwood then went on to add that the players have bought into Mourinho’s methods and it was showing in the performances on the field. (h/t Daily Star)

“He’s won 20 major trophies in his career and you’re winning football matches, so then you start believing that this guy is the real deal, he knows what he’s talking about, and why can’t we win the league?”

There is no denying the kind of impact that Mourinho has had at Tottenham. There were many sceptics when he was appointed as Poch’s successor but slowly he is turning them all into believers.

And, if the players continue playing as well as we have so far this term, there is a very good chance that a trophy will be on its way to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
