Back in October, reports out of Germany had claimed that José Mourinho was in regular contact with Borussia Dortmund officials over taking over for Lucien Favre.

However, at the time, sporting director Michael Zorc completely denied any truth to those allegations.

“We are not having a coach discussion and are happy to have Lucien Favre,” explained Zorc last month.

“These rumours around Mourinho lack any substance.”

But on Monday, despite being out of football for nearly a year, France Football reported that Mourinho was once again tied to the job.

If he were to land the position, Mourinho would have an opportunity to win a title in his fifth different country after claiming titles in England, Spain, Portugal, and Italy.

According to the report, Dortmund are very unhappy after another heavy defeat at Bayern Munich and could be looking to replace Favre in the coming weeks.

It’s believed an early-December hire could be the ideal time to bring Mourinho in, as he would have time to interact with the Dortmund board and scouts over potential swoops in the January market.
