Former director of Chivas, José Luis Higuera, has accepted that it was a mistake to sign Oribe Peralta at the time.
Higuera highlighted the quality of the former Santos footballer as a player and as a person but accepted that he made the decision way too fast.
“We were wrong. He is a great player, a great person, and I don’t want him to get this wrong, but as a sporting decision, it was bad.
“Many needs won us over, many issues that we had at that time.
“There were many emergencies and we were in a hurry, something that had not happened to me before; all my decisions were very thoughtful and calm but not this one.
“We had pressure from various avenues and it was a decision that was not for the successful model at Chivas.”
“You review the performances and it was one of the decisions that should not have been taken.”
The 37-year-old came to Chivas from América as a free transfer in 2019. He has only featured once this season, starting the season opener, and has contributed just two goals and two assists in 33 matches for the club.
