José Guadalupe Cruz acknowledged that he has heard of the rumours linking him to the Chivas post, should Luis Fernando Tena be sacked.
The long-time Mexican manager who won the 2009 CONCACAF Champions League, along with legendary manager Enrique ‘Ojitos’ Meza, have emerged as favourites should the position become available.
In an interview with ESPN, Cruz played down the rumours, revealing that he has not heard anything yet from the Chivas board.
“I do not like to be promoting anything that isn’t true. Why would I tell you that there is something if there isn’t anything to talk about.
“I would like to manage Chivas. Imagine a team like Chivas notices you. It’s something that excites me, of course. But, I have had no approach from anyone.
“There have been no calls so far.”
Chivas have only won a single match in 2020 and will look to reverse their fortunes on Friday when they face Xolos.
