Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is already in talks to fight Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition boxing bout later this year following the Brazilian's successful debut over the weekend.
Aldo, 36, laced up the boxing gloves for the first time to fight in a bout against 33-year-old Argentine fighter Alberto Emmanuel Zambrano at the Nova Uniao Upper Arena in Rio de Janeiro on Friday.
The 36-year-old Brazilian came out of the fight with his first win in boxing, taking the six-round encounter the distance, getting the win via unanimous decision, with the judges scoring the fight 60-54, 59-55 and 60-54.

During the early rounds of the fight, Aldo looked composed, landing a few counter punches to his opponent who tried to put together some combinations.
As the round went on, Aldo upped the intensity, putting his recent boxing training to work, landing a few shots to Zambrano’s body that caused some damage to his opponent, but not enough damage to get a KO, with the judges ultimately having to be the decking factor for who got the win in this bout.
There is some controversy surrounding the possible knockdown, however, that happened to Aldo throughout the fight.
The referee waved it off at the time, but it's certainly a topic of discussion.
"His side has already agreed, my side too," Aldo told MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz on Friday. "We're now waiting for [the promoters] to get the deal done."
Since his retirement in 2017, Mayweather has continued fighting in exhibition matches with the undefeated fighter having previously had bouts with social media stars such as Logan Paul and Deji Olatunji. The 45-year-old is now set to fight British TV personality and former Bellator MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers later this month.
Before the former UFC featherweight champion steps foot into a ring with Mayweather, however, he will have to go toe-to-toe with MMA fighter Jeremy Stephens later this year, believed to be April 1.
