Real Madrid have been warned by their former director Jorge Valdano to steer well clear of Neymar this summer.
The Brazilian appears ever more likely to return to Spanish shores this summer and end his two-year stay at Paris Saint-Germain.
Although Barcelona are in the driving seat, Los Blancos have also been heavily linked with a move.
But Valdano has strongly suggested that his side would be better served spending their money elsewhere.
“Neymar is not the signing that Real Madrid needs,” the Argentine told Onda Cero’s El Transistor.
“Madrid have to strengthen more in other areas of the field.
“It seems to me that there are other areas of the pitch which are more in need of reinforcement.
“Real Madrid are lacklustre at the moment and must make some decisions.”
In spite of Valdano’s complaints, it has been a big-spending summer at Real, who have brought in Eden Hazard, Luka Jović, Ferland Mendy and more.
