Jorge Molina becomes the oldest goalscorer in Copa del Rey history

Jorge Molina made history by becoming the oldest person to score a goal in the Copa del Rey, note Relevo.

Last night Granada defeated Murcia-based outfit Yeclano Deportivo 3-2 in the round of 64 of the Copa del Rey. It was the veteran Molina who netted the Nazaríes’ third and winning goal, becoming the competition’s oldest goalscorer at the age of 40 and 205 days. He surpasses Nino, who up to this point held the record by scoring for Elche in the Copa del Rey when he was 40 years and 189 days old.

This was Molina’s first goal of the season and he usually only comes off the bench for Granada during the club’s fixtures in the Second Division.

Granada were relegated from La Liga at the end of last season and are currently sitting eighth in LaLiga 2, three points shy from the final play-off spot.
