The world of football revolves around transfers and contracts, and the same is true for FC Barcelona. As one of the biggest clubs in world football, the Catalan giants take these matters seriously. After all, that is how Barcelona is able to establish a competitive squad.

However, while it is always nice to be able to sign new players and big stars, other situations must also be addressed. For instance, there are times when contract renewals of existing players are more important for clubs than the possibility of bringing in new recruits.

Ultimately, that is because contract negotiations and renewals are crucial for laying the foundations of a strong squad. Barcelona have already showcased that this season, and they are now reportedly going to engage with a certain Portuguese agent to discuss the futures of two youngsters in particular.

As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Jorge Mendes is set to travel to Barcelona soon and intends to meet with officials from the club to discuss certain negotiations. In particular, he wants to touch on the subject of the futures of both Lamine Yamal and Ansu Fati.

In the case of Yamal, things are quite straightforward and currently have a positive trajectory. Barça want to renew the 17-year-old winger’s contract and the player’s camp is also eager to stay with the club of his life. However, certain financial terms still need to be finalized.

At the moment, it is expected that when the winger turns 18 his new contract should be activated. It is expected to run till at least 2030, and that it will likely be activated around the 13th of July, by when the player will have reached the age of 18. Moreover, the recently announced new financial rules from La Liga could also help accommodate his renewal even with thin margins in regards to Financial Fair Play.

Ansu Fati, on the other hand, presents a different kind of challenge with a contract already in place until 2027. The Spaniard reportedly has a rather significant salary, especially for a player who is not considered to be a mainstay or key part of the project. However, both the club and his representatives want to find a positive solution regarding the 22-year-old forward’s future to make things easier for all involved parties.
