Jorge Mendes reveals one of the subjects discussed with Barcelona top brass in last night’s meeting | OneFootball

The top brass of FC Barcelona is currently present in Portugal as the Catalans have a crucial match against SL Benfica in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. The Blaugranes are set to play the first leg of this tie tonight, and have already travelled to Lisbon for this purpose.

However, while Hansi Flick’s team will be fully focused on the upcoming match, the top officials of the club are also engaged in meaningful business with this trip.

One such activity was the meeting of the top Barcelona brass with the Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes. The summit was held in an Asian restaurant in Lisbon, and Joan Laporta and Mendes remained engaged for up to four hours.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the superagent also talked to the media after leaving the meeting. As the Portuguese agent highlighted, one of the topics discussed in this meeting was the renewal of Lamine Yamal, but did not give too many details on this subject:

“Lamine will definitely renew. Today, we only talked about him. Things are going very well… There’s nothing new, everyone knows it.”

Another player in Mendes’ clientele who is having an uncertain future at the Blaugrana club is Ansu Fati, but the agent revealed that he was not discussed in this meeting:

“We haven’t talked about Ansu Fati, but he’s a player who has shown his quality many times and now needs to play.”

Furthermore, he remained silent when asked about a potential transfer for Rafael Leao to Barcelona. Joan Laporta himself did not speak to the media after leaving the restaurant, but still took some time to sign autographs for some fans.

In addition to the President, there were other top Blaugrana officials present in this meeting, including Deco, Rafa Yuste, Xavier Barbany, Josep Maria Albert and Miquel Camps.
