Barcelona have confirmed Jordi Cruyff will leave his post as sporting director this summer.
Cruyff returned to his boyhood club in 2021 after Joan Laporta swept into a second term as president.
But the ex-striker and son of late Barça legend Johan Cruyff has passed up the chance to extend his contract beyond its 30 June expiry.
In an official statement, the Blaugrana confirmed that Cruyff informed Laporta on Tuesday morning of his decision to pursue new projects.
The 49-year-old’s departure comes just weeks after director of football Mateu Alemany intimated his plans to join Aston Villa’s hierarchy.
Former Barça playmaker Deco has been widely tipped to succeed Cruyff as part of a summer of change in Camp Nou’s corridors of power.
Both Cruyff and Alemany leave the Catalan club fresh from Xavi Hernández’s side reclaiming LaLiga for a first time since 2018/19.
