FC Barcelona had a performance to remember against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Hansi Flick’s team ended up 4-0 winners on the night with a brace from Robert Lewandowski and goals from Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
This was one of the most anticipated El Clasico’s in a long time due to Barcelona’s form coming into the game and the team that Real Madrid assembled in the summer. Ultimately, it was the La Masia talent that triumphed over the money on the night.
Players like Pau Cubarsi had an incredible display against Real Madrid. The 17-year-old’s performances often go under the radar but last night, the way he marshalled Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. out of the game was a joy to watch.
Understandably, after the game, many former Barcelona players reacted to the incredible performance of their former club. One such player was Jordi Alba, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to send an eleven-word message to Hansi Flick’s team. Here is what he said:
“What a fantastic match you all played!!! 🤩👏🏻 LET’S GO, FC Barcelona!!! 💪🏻💙❤️”
Jordi Alba, who himself has been a part of so many memorable nights in a Barcelona shirt would have loved to see how well Hansi Flick’s team played away at Madrid. It was rather fitting that Alejandro Balde provided an Alba-esque cross for Barcelona’s second goal on the night.

Jordi Alba is currently enjoying his football in Miami, playing alongside the likes of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, and Sergio Busquets. The Spaniard is one of the all-time Barcelona greats and defined his position for the better part of an era.
Last night’s El Clasico performance from Barcelona not just reminded Alba but all the football fans of how the past used to be. There was a time when this used to be routine at the Catalan club and that is the level Flick’s team will want to reach.
It remains to be seen how Hansi Flick’s Barcelona continue to perform in upcoming games. They now have established a six-point cushion in La Liga, but the real test lies in maintaining this momentum. The German will instil this feeling in the players and let’s hope the team can continue enthralling fans on a weekly basis.
