Jordan Nobbs ankle injury adds to Arsenal’s post-Chelsea woes

When Jonas Eidevall named his first squad for Arsenal, he had no choice but to name a bench full of youngsters with so many first-teamers on Olympic duty. But it was one of the kids – Freya Jupp, a 17-year-old Academy graduate – who scored the winner.

Katie McCabe had given Arsenal the lead with a lovely finish after just 28 minutes.
The game was, however, overshadowed by an injury to Jordan Nobbs. Nobbs had to be replaced early in the second half after what seemed a nasty ankle injury.

Nobbs injury was to foreshadow what would happen in the men’s game, which took place shortly after the women’s match.
Thomas Partey had to leave the game in the first half with an ankle injury of his own, Mikel Arteta saying after the game that it ‘did not look good’.
Both teams now face Spurs on Sunday, 8 August at the Toilet Bowl arena. The men kick-off at 2pm and the women follow at 4.45pm.
