Jordan Henderson has completed his his move from Liverpool to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq for a reported £12m fee.

Linking up with former teammate Steven Gerrard, who recently was appointed the club’s manager, Henderson has signed a lucrative three-year contract with some reports claiming he will be earning around £700k-a-week.

The move marks the end of Henderson’s 12-year career at Anfield, eight of which he spent as the club’s captain after Gerrard’s departure in 2015.

Henderson had earlier confirmed his departure via an emotional farewell letter to the Liverpool fans on Instagram:

“It’s hard to put these last 12 years into words and it’s even harder to say goodbye.

“I will always be a Red. Until the day I die.”

In his time at Liverpool, the 33-year old made 492 appearances and scored 33 goals, as well as winning multiple trophies.

He is the only captain in the club’s history to lift six different trophies, leading his side to Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup success in his final five seasons at the club.
