Jordan Henderson baffled by Shaw and Solskjaer comments after Anfield draw | OneFootball

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his Manchester United players were feeling a little disappointed with a 0-0 draw at Anfield.

It came as a surprise for Jordan Henderson who was a makeshift option at centre-back for the game, with Liverpool having a number of injury problems at the moment.

The two teams played cancelled each other out throughout the game and it ended goalless, although United had the better chances on the day.

Liverpool dominated possession but did very little with it.

Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba were denied by Allison from close range, and Luke Shaw felt it was a game United could’ve won.

Shaw said: “I’ll be honest, the dressing room is very flat. It’s not what we wanted.

“Before the game, we came here to win, we didn’t come here to try and get a point; we came here to win.

“We felt so confident with the way that recent results have been going for us. It wasn’t meant to be, but we pushed towards the end, but a point is better than none.”

The boss was just as frustrated not to have won the game.

Henderson was asked about those comments before asking the reporter where they came from, and was guilty of pretending to act surprised.

The Liverpool captain said (via Liverpool Echo): “They [United] felt they should have won it? Who said that?”

The interviewer replied: “The manager, Luke Shaw.”

Henderson: “Right. Interesting. I felt we should have won it. Performance level I thought was very good. I thought we played some brilliant stuff.

“Defended well as a team, and just lacked that little bit in the penalty box, that last little bit. But I thought we dominated the game for large parts of it.”

Henderson did a good job at centre-back but United could have done more to challenge him on the day. Liverpool won’t get away with playing two midfielders in difference every week.
