Jonathan Tah wants to join Bayern Munich: Contract extension ruled out

Is Jonathan Tah’s nine-year stay at Bayer Leverkusen coming to an end?

According to Kicker, Tah is determined to join Bayern Munich and rules out a contract extension with Leverkusen. The 28-year-old’s current deal expires in 2025 and unwilling to lose the defender on a free transfer next year, Bayer would rather cash in on Tah, and after a Bundesliga winning campaign will not deny him the opportunity to join Bayern Munich.

This does come after Bayer sporting director Simon Rolfes spoke in April, stating that they wish to tie Tah down to a new contract beyond 2025, but it appears the player is set on Bayern Munich.

As reported earlier this month, Bayern Munich have reached a total agreement with Tah for a contract until 2029, but have been unable to find an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayer Leverkusen, who ended Bayern’s 11-year monopoly on the Bundesliga, wanted a reported fee of around €40m for Tah, which is deemed too excessive by Bayern. However, Kicker now report that both clubs may agree on a fee between €25m and €30m.
