Jonathan dos Santos has given disappointing news to any América fans hoping that the midfielder has plans to join his brother, Giovani, in Liga MX anytime soon.
The 30-year-old midfielder has been with LA Galaxy in MLS since 2017, and is now captain of the Western Conference giants.
“I have always said that my dream as a child was to play for América, both my dream and my brother’s, and he is there right now at the club,” Jonathan told TUDN.
“I would love to, but, there is always a but, and right now I’m happy in the Galaxy.”
The younger dos Santos, who began his career with Barcelona in Spain before spending three years at Villarreal, said he is too settled at his current club to contemplate a move at this stage.
“I found my stability, both personally and professionally,” the Mexico international said.
“I am the captain of the team. It is something that is very difficult to achieve.”
Jonathan may be wary of suffering the same bad fortune as Giovani has endured since joining the Azulcrema from the Galaxy last summer.
Gio’s move was greeted with much fanfare, but a litany of injuries have limited his availability and his opportunites to ingratiate himself to the América faithful.
