According to and Sky Germany, captain Jonas Hector is undecided about his future at FC Köln.
As per the report, the 32-year-old is still contemplating whether he wants to continue football altogether. The former German international has been encouraged by his fellow teammates to “hang on” for another year. It’s clear that Hector has a massive influence within the club and the dressing room. Even if he isn’t going to be a regular starter next year, his presence alone can have a positive impact on morale.
For Hector, it’s not just about money. It’s about family, his overall welfare, and if he is ready to finally hang up his boots. The defensive midfielder has spent most of his professional career in a Köln shirt. In 2012, he made the step up from the U23s and hasn’t looked back since.
Hector will surpass 300 appearances this season and has scored 20 goals in the process. There is no danger of the veteran playing for a competitor but rather he feels his body can withstand another year at the top.
