Ashley Phillips vs Leeds United

The young England U19 centre-back has already become a mainstay in the Plymouth side having racked up five starts since joining last month.

And his display against Leeds certainly pleased the home fans, despite the heavy defeat after extra time.

Here are some key statistics from SofaScore on Phillips’ display last night.

  • 119 minutes played
  • 1 assist
  • 5 clearances
  • 4 interceptions
  • 2 tackles

The response Phillips is gaining from the Argyle fans will surely have those back at Spurs excited for what is to come in the future from the defender.

Although Phillips is playing in the second tier of English football, doing so at such a young age does show the potential he possesses.

However, with the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin all ahead of him in the pecking order in N17, it will be interesting to see what next season holds for him.
