John Van ‘t Schip has confirmed that he will not continue as Ajax manager next season, but he is currently in talks about another role at the club. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Van ‘t Schip revealed that talks took place over the international break about his future at the club. “I’d like to contribute in the future but with a different role,” the 60-year-old said.

Ajax have already shortlisted several candidates for the managers position. “Alex [Kroes] is talking to a lot of people,” John Van ‘t Schip continued. “With me, it’s about what my role could be for next season. We are talking about that. It’s about the cooperation for several years, that’s the wish of Ajax and myself. It remains to be seen in what role that will be.”

A nightmare campaign has seen Ajax lose seven and draw eight of their 26 games so far this season. The Dutch giants are currently fifth in the table with one win from their last seven league games, leaving them set for their worst finish since the 99/00 campaign. A rebuild will be required ahead of the new season, but the big question is – who will be in charge at Johan Cruyff Arena next season?
