John Textor has said he's looking to sell his share in Crystal Palace, as the club tries to avoid being kicked out of European competition next season.
Palace pulled off a huge upset last month, beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley to seal a place in the Europa League for the 2025/26 season - their first-ever taste of European football.
But their spot in the competition is now under threat because of Textor’s links to another club.
The American businessman owns 43% of Palace through his Eagle Football group, which also controls 88% of Lyon and they’ve qualified for the same tournament after finishing sixth in Ligue 1.
UEFA rules say that one person can’t have “control or influence” over two clubs playing in the same competition, to avoid any conflict of interest.
Palace believe they’re within the rules, arguing that Textor doesn’t actually run the show as he only holds 25% of the voting rights.
The rest are shared with fellow investors David Blitzer, Josh Harris, and chairman Steve Parish, who handles the day-to-day running of the club.
Textor also has major stakes in Lyon, Brazilian side Botafogo, and Belgian club RWD Molenbeek.
