John Brooks to TSG Hoffenheim is a done deal, as reported by Florian Plettenberg.
The central defender is making his way back to the Bundesliga from Portuguese side Benfica. The American international previously played for Hertha Berlin and Wolfsburg before moving to Portugal last year. However, his career with Benfica never really materialised and only played a handful of times.
The 29-year-old defender has already completed his medical and will sign a contract until 2024 with Hoffenheim. The transfer will cost €300k plus bonuses.
Though his career never got off the ground in Portugal, the Bundesliga is a league that Brooks knows well. During his time with Hertha and Wolfsburg, the defender has made over 200 top-flight appearances.
Brooks plans to take part in Hoffenheim training today and could be ready for selection against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday. Currently 13th with no win in five league matches, Brooks will bolster the defence and hopefully steer the club away from relegation.
