According to Sacha Tavolieri, Johan Bakayoko has decided to stay at PSV Eindhoven. On Thursday afternoon, Brentford made an offer worth €40m for the 20-year-old winger. Bakayoko has reportedly decided to stay in Eindhoven as he wants to play Champions League football and fight for the Eredivisie title.

PSV are set to open talks with Bakayoko over the extension of his contract. A departure will be likely next summer, but for now, the player wants to continue developing in the Netherlands under head coach Peter Bosz.

Several sides have registered their interest in Johan Bakayoko this summer. Last Friday, Burnley made a move for the Belgium international, submitting a €20m offer. That was almost immediately rejected by the Eredivisie club. Brentford submitted a much higher offer today, but Bakayoko has made his mind up. A move seems very unlikely before Friday’s deadline.

Johan Bakayoko featured 39 times in all competitions last season as PSV finished second in the Eredivisie and lifted the KNVB Cup. The academy graduate scored nine goals and provided six assists. Already, Bakayoko has kicked off the new campaign in superb style. The four-time Belgium international has provided four assists within his side’s first five games in all competitions. Whether he leaves or not, Bakayoko is certainly a player to watch this season.
