After a thumping 4-0 victory over Leicester City, Newcastle United continued their run as they beat Brentford 3-1 in the EFL Cup quarter-final round. Their next game lies against Ipswich Town in the Premier League this weekend.

The Magpies are 12th on the points table with 23 points after 16 rounds of play. Hence, they will be motivated to continue their winning streak and secure all three points this time.

Defence

Martin Dubravka will keep operating between the sticks in the absence of Nick Pope, who suffered a knee injury earlier this month. Right-back Tino Livramento was excellent on the last outing and should keep his spot.

The centre-back duo of Dan Burn and Fabian Schar did well to restrict Brentford. A similar sort of performance will be expected from them. No doubt that Lewis Hall is also starting as the left-back in the starting lineup.

Midfield

Joelinton isn’t available for this fixture as he is suspended after having picked the fifth yellow card of the season. In his absence, Joe Willock could get the nod to operate alongside the likes of Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes in the middle of the park.

Attack

Eddie Howe has no reason to alter anyone in the front line as they were effective positively.

Anthony Gordon was absolutely brilliant against Brentford and once again he could be a difference-maker on the field. Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak also continue to be lined up in the attacking pack.

Sven Botman is still sidelined as he hasn’t fully recovered from a ligament injury yet.
